Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is a mandatory administrative body established in Indian higher education institutions to maintain and enhance the quality of education. Proposed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), it serves as a "post-accreditation quality sustenance measure" to ensure that excellence becomes a part of the institution’s culture.

Core Objectives

  • Quality Culture: To internalize and institutionalize a "quality culture" within the university or college.

  • Performance Monitoring: To track and improve academic and administrative performance through periodic audits and feedback.

  • Continuous Improvement: To act as a vehicle for ushering in quality enhancement through planned interventionist strategies.

Functions

of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

  • Quality Benchmarking & Planning: Developing and implementing quality parameters for various academic and administrative activities.

  • Academic Improvement: Creating a learner-centric environment, promoting technology-enabled teaching-learning processes, and fostering research culture.

  • Documentation & Data Management: Maintaining an institutional database through Management Information Systems (MIS) to track improvements and document activities.

  • Feedback Mechanism: Collecting and analyzing feedback from students, parents, and stakeholders regarding institutional processes.

  • Quality Culture Promotion: Organizing seminars, workshops, and quality-related programs.

  • Accreditation & Reporting: Preparing the AQAR for submission to NAAC, and managing data for rankings (NAAC/NBA).

  • Best Practices Adoption: Facilitating the implementation of best practices for institutional functioning.

  • Internal Audits: Conducting regular audits of academic and administrative departments to ensure continuous improvement.   

IQAC ensures that the institution focuses on excellence, relevance, and credibility in all its endeavors. 

Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:

  • Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative tasks;

  • The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes;

  • Optimisation and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning;

  • Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services;
